Sapporo Factory (Shopping Mall)
The Sapporo Beer Factory has its roots in the Sapporo Kaitakushi Beer Brewery, which opened in the Meiji era. It is now a commercial complex that utilizes the former site. The brick building is also a popular tourist spot. You can enjoy a variety of activities, including shopping, gourmet food, and movies.
SAPPORO SOSEI SQUARE
This complex is close to Odori Park and the Sapporo Clock Tower. It is home to the Sapporo Cultural Arts Theater “hitaru,” which seats up to 2,300 people, the Sapporo Cultural Arts Community Center (SCARTS), and the Sapporo Municipal Library and Information Center, and is a popular hub for arts and information.
Kanamoto Hall
(Sapporo Citizens Hall)
Located near Odori Park and Sapporo City Hall, this multipurpose hall is equipped with a 1,500-seat main hall and small, medium, and large conference rooms. It can host a wide range of events, including music, theater, lectures, and conventions.
Nagayama Memorial Park
Nagayama Memorial Park, adjacent to Sapporo Factory, houses the former residence of Takeshiro Nagayama and the former Mitsubishi Mining Company dormitory, both of which are now cafes where you can enjoy stylish sweets and meals.
Odori Park
Odori Park stretches from east to west in the center of Sapporo. It is the stage for various events throughout the year, such as the YOSAKOI Soran Festival in early summer, the Sapporo Autumn Fest in autumn, and the Sapporo White Illumination and Sapporo Snow Festival in winter.
Sapporo TV Tower
Sapporo TV Tower, located at the eastern end of Odori Park, has been a beloved symbol of Sapporo since its completion in 1956. The observation deck is 90 meters high. It is a popular spot with views stretching to the east, west, north and south, as well as the opportunity to watch events in Odori Park below.
Sapporo Clock Tower
This historic building is one of Sapporo’s most iconic landmarks. It has been watching over the city of Sapporo since it was built in 1878 as a training ground for Sapporo Agricultural College (now Hokkaido University). The clock tower still has its original machinery in operation, chiming to tell the hours.
Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store
This long-established department store has been loved by the people of Sapporo for over a century. It stocks a wide range of Hokkaido specialties and famous sweets, making it a great place to pick out souvenirs. Kita Kitchen, a shop operated in the nearby Sapporo Chikagai Aurora Town (Underground Shopping Mall), is also popular.
Sapporo City Hall
Sapporo City Hall, the administrative center of Sapporo, was completed in 1971, the year before the Sapporo Olympics. There is an observation gallery on the 19th floor, where you can enjoy a view of the city center.
